Keep GitLab and Azure DevOps Usage in View
DevOps Consumption is a Claude Code mod that adds a pane beside your conversation. It shows how much of your GitLab and Azure DevOps plans you have used this month, what extra usage will cost, and how many merge and pull requests are waiting on your review. It reads only; it never changes anything in GitLab or Azure DevOps.
What It Shows
GitLab, for Each Top-Level Group
- Compute minutes used this month against your plan's quota, with a bar that turns amber at 80% and red at 100%.
- Storage, broken down into container registry, job artifacts, repository and other.
- Seats in use, and open merge requests with how many wait on your review, linked to the group's merge request list.
- Extra cost, shown only when the group goes past what its plan includes.
Azure DevOps, for One Organisation
- Microsoft-hosted pipeline minutes, hosted and self-hosted parallel jobs, and license use.
- Open pull requests and how many wait on your vote, linked to the organisation's pull request page.
You can fold any card down to its main meter, hide groups you don't need, and open the pane with /consumption. Claude alerts you once a month when a meter crosses the warning line.
Before You Install
The mod uses the command-line sign-ins already on your computer. It stores no passwords or tokens of its own.
- GitLab: the GitLab CLI (
glab), signed in to gitlab.com. - Azure DevOps: a personal access token with read access to Build, Agent Pools, Member Entitlement Management and Code. Keep it in Azure Key Vault and sign in with the Azure CLI (
az); the mod reads it from there. You can also store it in the mod's secret setting. - Claude Code, in the terminal or the Claude desktop app.
Install
In a Claude Code terminal session, run the command below, answer y to add the marketplace, then choose where to install it.
/plugin install devops-consumption --marketplace henkei-lakmal/modsIn the Claude desktop app, click + next to the prompt box, then Plugins, Add marketplace with henkei-lakmal/mods, then Add plugin.
Settings
Set the mod's options in Claude Code's settings file, ~/.claude/settings.json, under pluginConfigs. Use the mod's full name as the key, devops-consumption@henkei-lakmal-mods. The short name devops-consumption is not read, and every option then stays at its default.

| Option | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
gitlabNamespaces | all | Comma-separated top-level groups to show |
gitlabMinutesQuota | plan | Overrides the plan's monthly compute minutes |
adoOrg | none | The organisation in dev.azure.com/<org>; empty turns Azure DevOps off |
adoPatSecret | none | Key Vault vault/secret holding the token |
adoPat | none | The token itself, kept as a secret setting |
refreshMinutes | 30 | How often the pane refreshes, at least 5 |
warnPercent | 80 | When a meter turns amber and alerts |
What Extra Usage Costs
The pane estimates extra cost from GitLab.com list prices: compute minutes at $10 per 1,000, bought once, and storage at $5 a month per 10 GiB, billed yearly. Only Git repository and LFS data count toward storage; each project includes 10 GiB on Free and 500 GiB on Premium and Ultimate. Container registry and job artifacts are not billed.
Several Accounts on One Computer
The pane's top line names the accounts it reads as. If you keep separate work and personal sign-ins, give each Claude Code profile its own GitLab and Azure CLI folders with the GLAB_CONFIG_DIR and AZURE_CONFIG_DIR settings in that profile's settings.json. The multi-account guide covers the profile setup.
